Roland Leong's Fabulous 1969 Mini Charger was certainly a trend setter and the class of it's field. The Charger's nickname, comes from the Pineapple shaped air vents cut in the rear window, a nice little added touch to the craftsmanship of this car.
For those old enough to remember, the MPC Model company produced a kit of this car later in the year. Sadly, the model kit came with a stock 1968 Charger body, and that was far cry from the real car. The kit did have nice decals, and if you were inventive enough, you could chop and alter the wheelbase yourself. I don't think many modelers attempted the modifications though.
I did this painting in 1991 for myself. I just wanted to hang a nice picture of one of my favorite cars on the wall. It has been hanging in my studio ever since. Just about everyone who has been in my studio, gravitates towards this painting. I guess a lot of other folks loved this car also, and I have always been complimented on the Photographic quality of the painting.
