The other half of the most famous Funny Car duos in Drag Racing, is Don Prudhomme's 1972  "Hot Wheels" Plymouth Cuda.
For Funny Car fans of the 70s, arguably the "Baddest" looking Funny Car in the land was Prudhomme's 72 Cuda, dubbed the "Black Snake" for obvious reasons.
The car was runner to McEwen at the Historic 'Last Drag Race" at Lions Drag Strip in December of 1972.
The low slung Cuda was a creation of John Buttera, and was repainted Yellow in 73 for the short lived "Carefree Gum" sponsorship, and went on to win the US Nationals that year; Although the car never looked as appealing as it did in the all Black livery.
The car was parked in 74 in favor of a new Vega, but the Chevy bodied car didn't live up to it's expectations, and the Cuda was brought back out of retirement. It was painted with Prudhomme's new "US Army" sponsorship and won the Gatornationals.
The car still lives and can be seen at Garlet's "Museum of Drag Racing."
