Although it looks like he's behind at this point, Lil John Lombardo shut down Denny Savage on his way to win the 1983 "World Finals" at Orange County Raceway.
"I've always loved Phil Castronova's Funny Cars, and this 83 Charger version is no exception! Bob Gerdes of "Circus" paints applied the Kenny Youngblood designed paint scheme to this Dodge, an he did an immaculate job as always. My Mentor Tom Stratton painted Lil' John's "Basic-black" Charger ,and applied the gold leaf signs.
My first idea for name for this painting was "East vs. West," since these cars are polar opposites of each other. One is from the east coast, the other the west, one is very colorful, and the other is straight black...I think its interesting to see how two identical bodies, can look so different from one another just by the way they're painted.
